Civil and structural foundations for ground-mount solar plants and rooftop arrays — pile, pedestal and ballast systems designed for 25-year plant life.
Foundations built for a 25-year asset
Solar plants are financial assets with a 25-year horizon. The civil foundation decides whether the module mounting structure stays in true alignment through monsoons, high-wind events and thermal cycling — or whether generation is lost to tilt drift and structural settlement.
BRESPL executes solar civil packages for ground-mount utility and C&I plants as well as rooftop installations. We select the foundation system based on soil, water table, terrain and project economics: driven piles where strata permits fast, low-concrete installation; screw piles for rocky or mixed profiles; and RCC pedestals or ballast blocks where pull-out resistance or a corrosive water table rules out steel in ground.
Scope of work
- Geotechnical investigation and vertical/lateral pull-out load testing on trial piles before mass execution.
- Setting out of the array grid with total station — row pitch, azimuth and inter-row shading distance verified against the plant layout.
- Foundation execution — pile driving, boring or pedestal casting with top-of-foundation levels held within tolerance so the MMS installs without shimming.
- Balance of plant civil — inverter and transformer plinths, control room, cable trenches, drainage, internal roads and boundary works.
- Earthing & lightning protection — earth pits, earthing grid and lightning arrester foundations.
Rooftop expertise
Rooftop arrays bring a different problem: adding load and penetrations to an existing structure. We assess the roof’s load-bearing capacity, prefer non-penetrative ballast systems where feasible, and where anchoring is unavoidable we execute chemically-anchored pedestals with full waterproofing treatment so the client never sees a leak.
Execution discipline
Solar civil is a volume game — thousands of foundations on a fixed commissioning date. We plan pile driving in sequenced blocks, run daily progress dashboards against the S-curve, and keep an independent quality checker on alignment and level so the MMS team follows without waiting.
